The 3rd China-Korea Marine Energy Workshop
hosted by our school in Qingdao was successfully concluded
From October 9th to 12th, the 3rd China-Korea Marine Energy Workshop was successfully concluded. The conference was hosted by Shandong University. And co-organized by the First Institute of Oceanography of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Korea Marine Science and Technology Institute, China-Korea Ocean Science Joint Research Center, National Ocean Technology Center, Zhejiang University Ocean Research Institute, Ocean University of China, Qingdao Marine Science and Technology (Pilot) National Laboratory and the Ocean Energy Professional Committee of the China Renewable Energy Society. Experts and scholars from universities and research institutes in China and South Korea gathered together to exchange the latest academic research results and technological development achievements of Ocean Energy, and explore new trends in the future development of ocean energy.
On October 10, the meeting was held at the Qingdao National Laboratory for Marine Science and Technology (Pilot). The meeting was hosted by Professor Yanjun Liu of Shandong University. Assistant to the President of Shandong University, Vice President of Shandong University (Qingdao), Dean of the College of Oceanography, Professo Leir Jia, Director Zexun Wei of the First Institute of Oceanography of the Ministry of Natural Resources, and Director Young Min OH of the China-Korea Joint Research Center for Marine Science delivered speeches respectively.
In his speech, Professor Lei Jia introduced the development of marine science at Shandong University. At the same time, he hopes to strengthen cooperation with other parties, jointly promote the development of marine energy, gather the strengths of the public, break through the technical bottleneck, and achieve more abundant results. A total of more than 70 people attended the meeting, including the Secretary of the Institute of Oceanography of Shandong University, Zhenshan Zhang, Chinese experts and students from Shandong University, Ocean University of China, Zhejiang University, National Ocean Technology Center, Tsinghua University, Northeast Normal University, Qingdao University of Science and Technology, and Korean experts from the China-Korea Joint Research Center for Marine Science and the Korean Academy of Marine Science and Technology.

Speech by Professor Lei Jia, Assistant President of Shandong University
During the conference, the Chinese experts represented by Professor Wei Li of Zhejiang University, Professor Ning Mei of Ocean University of China, Dr. Soo-Hwang Ahn of Tsinghua University, and the Korean experts represented by Dr. Hyeon-Ju Kim and Dr. Dong-Hui Ko were respectively made a wonderful report on the theme of “The wave energy, temperature difference energy, tidal energy, and tidal energy”, introducing the latest research results of the team in the field of marine energy and the next research plan, and conducted in-depth discussions and exchanges with other experts. Among them, the floating platform measurement and control technology for offshore power generation, the wave energy open ocean test field, the temperature difference energy ejector cycle and the temperature difference energy 1MW field test made breakthrough progress, providing strong technical support and rich practical experience for the research in this field.
On October 11th, the delegates visited the mini-MECS installation of Shandong University, the Ocean Thermal Energy Laboratory of the First Institute of Oceanography of the Ministry of Natural Resources, and the National Laboratory of Marine Science and Technology in Qingdao, and discussed related technical issues. After three days of full communication, on October 12, the meeting was successfully concluded. At the closing ceremony, Director Liu Weimin of the First Institute of Oceanography of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Director Wu Rongmin of the China-Korea Joint Research Center for Marine Science made concluding remarks and made specific arrangements for the future development of marine energy cooperation between China and South Korea. The successful holding of this conference has established a good platform for academic exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and Korean experts and scholars, promoted the exchange and cooperation of ocean energy research, promoted the improvement of the level of marine energy technology in Asia, and provided valuable experience for marine energy science and technology cooperation between China and Korea.
